From June 8th to June 10th, our Managing Partner, Michael R. Parker and Associate Attorney, Rachel C. Roland, attended the 24th Annual Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee (FIFEC) Conference in Orlando, Florida. FIFEC began its formal existence as the DIF/SIU Annual Training Seminar representing the Florida Department of Insurance’s Division of Insurance Fraud and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) community in 1992 at Altamonte Springs. In 1997, it was determined that the DIF/SIU Seminar had grown far too large an endeavor for a single SIU and FIFEC was formed. Over the years, FIFEC has offered continuous annual training seminars for DIF and SIU investigators, other law enforcement officers, prosecutors, insurance carrier adjusters and management, insurance defense attorneys and others in the ongoing fight to combat all forms of insurance fraud.
At this year’s conference our Managing Partner, Michael R. Parker, and Associate Attorney, Rachel C. Roland, were honored to be given the opportunity to present alongside Robert Kingsford and K. David Cheers. The presentation, Trial Strategies When Arson is Suspected, was a trial playbook of sorts to assist attorneys in defending insurance companies against bad faith suits brought by insureds for denial of property claims resulting from arson.
